About WITA
WITA was started in February 2000 by a group of local artists concerned with providing a regular arena for women working in the arts to meet and exchange ideas.
Since 2000, the objectives of WITA have evolved and are threefold :
- to establish a network for women in the arts, both locally and internationally,
- to provide a regular platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas and,
- to document the work of art practitioners for research and reference purposes.
Today, it has established :
* a growing archive with over 60 art practitioners
* a regular talk series called WITALK and,
* the Website project.
.
The WITA archive Since its inception, the WITA archive has grown featuring more than 60 art-practitioners in the various art mediums of painting, printmaking, conceptual art, installation art, sculpture, electronic art, video art, performance art, ceramics and multimedia art.
