FROM SITE

localmotives is a web magazine on contemporary art and culture. It was founded in the spring of year 2000 as the first Norwegian editorial on contemporary art on the Internet.

So far the main issues has been on topics as: Humour, Poplyrics/Soundart, Places, Cultural writing, Netart, Truth, Economy, popular music, Political theater, etc.

The contributions may vary from texts and artprojects to sounclips and animations. We want to be a solid editorial on the Internet, with the traditional magazines attributions, but we also want to explore the exiting variourum of new forms of expressions on the Internet.

Localmotives has a broad network of artists and writers especially in Scandinavia. In 2002 we were invited to EPMC – European Peripheral Magazines Conference, in Lund, Sweden, as the Norwegian participant.

Occasionally we collaborate with other groups of artists to form happenings related to the topics in the magazine. These happenings most often takes place on the south-west coast of Norway where we are located, but it could be anywhere in the world.

From 2005 and on Localmotives have, in addition to the web-magazine, ambitions to establish an international triennale of videoart and experimental film. The triennale will be situated in Stavanger, possibly one of the European Capitals of Culture in 2008. There will soon be a link to this site here.
